My Recent Favourite Books
I've been reading a lot of home style and decoration books recently. They are mostly about cottage, country, vintage style. And here are my two favourite.
Easy Cottage Style by Liz Bauwens and Alexandra Campbell. This little book includes many many photos of different cottage style, from colour scheme to country to beach side.
ShabbyChic by Rachel Ashwell. Yes, she is the designer having her beautiful home collection at Target. This lovely book shares many tips on the possibilities on flea market finds from antique furniture to vintage clothing.

Time for the Fun Stuff
It has been extremely busy recently. Even though I know I won't have time to spare for the upcoming weeks, but just by flipping through these books and getting inspirations for my future projects, it's enough for me put a smile back up from my unintentionally frowned face.
Make! by Cath Kidston. I always like her retro vintage style. And now, here's the little book of wonderful projects in Cath's style. It covers items from floral embroidery on a plain cardigan to beautiful home decor. It's simply lovely!
More Softies Only a Mother Could Love by Meg Leder. This little book covers twenty-two adorable softie projects and many different techniques in detailed instructions and photos.
And I definitely want to try this most adorable thumb print + illustration by the small object. Finally, something fun when it comes to thumb print.
Happy Thursday! =)

The Fluffy Model
If good modeling comes from natural talent, I'm sure Puchi must be born with it. We've taught her to look at the camera when we say cheese. She's usually pretty patient and good.
But certainly didn't teach this moody face and make those little crossed arms. She must have learned it from Mr. Teddy.

Sweet Treats
Have you tried beignet before? These irresistible French donuts covered with powdered sugar is a classic of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Luckily, we don't need to fly all the way there to enjoy it because they can be found in Jazz Kitchen at Downtown Disney. Hmm..delicious!

All About Flower
Recently I've been reading a few flower books. There are always some new things to learn and so much inspiration to make an ordinary piece into an one of a kind.
This lovely book, Ribbon Embroidery by Natalie Bellanger-Clement, covers tons of techniques in photos and detail text. It will be nice for a change from usual embroidery.
Next up are Crocheted Flowers by Nicky Epstein and 100 Flowers to Knit and Crochet by Lesley Stanfield. These two lovely books cover lots of flower motif patterns. They will be great for embellishing scarf, cardigan, bag and many possibilities.

An Artsy Tuesday
Carrie Chau has always been one of my favourite artists. Her works always portray the childhood fun in a whimsical way. The complexity and the oddness of her works is what I admire most.
This lovely golden book of illustions is The Magic Circus by Mark Ryden. It is definitely an eye candy for Ryden's fan which includes fifty-five of his most popular works.
Last but not least, I'd like share with you this adorable cat collection from a Korean brand called Jetoy. These little kitties are beautifully rendered in lovely costumes and fairy tale settings. They are simply too cute! =)

Russian Cuteness
It was love in the first sight when I first saw Yebypawka / Чебурашка (Cheburashka in Japanese) years ago. The little monkey-like creature is a character from a Russian children's book. They have been recreated into plush doll and many lovely things in Japanese in recent years. And I was so excited to find this lovely literature of it. Even though I can hardly read it, the adorable pictures are too cute to resist. I guess it's time for me to study more Japanese. =)
By the way, remember those lovely cakelets earlier? I tried to make some of those the other night and I did a little twist to it. I gently folded in three melted squares of Ghirardelli dark chocolate into one third of the mixture. It turned out to be some very delicious chocolate cakelets. =)
Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend!

Feature of the Week
It seems that the little shoppe is pretty empty recently as I've been trying to catch up and have to admit that I've been a bit lay back these days. Thank you for all your kind words and feedback, they really mean a lot to me. =) And finally, I've something new to show.
This lovely deer dress is the sequel of the pink deer dress but in a totally different way. Instead of tea party style, it is in A-line. That seems more suitable for this adorable Japanese fabric. It appears to have a variety of impressions depending on how you wear it. It could be romantic sweet, it could be playful. And the lovely ruffle in simply red.

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Feburary
Commited, the new book from Elizabeth Gilbert is finally out! I'm so excited and I've just started reading over the weekend. I can't find the perfect words to describe how much I love her writing. It really feels like a lovely friend telling me about her adventure.
Another interesting book is Fierce Style by Christian Siriano. It is no doubt that he is one of the most talented designers in recent years. I guess it is pretty obvious he would be the right person to go for styling advice. And for today, I must finish the Valentine's cards for my dear friends aboard.
Happy Monday and have a lovely week!

Happy Blythe!
If you didn't do any research and would like to do some Blythe shopping in Hongkong, it will be for sure really frustrating. It's because Mongkok is probably the only place you can find any trace of Blythe. I mean there are Blythe in other places too but most likely you won't go to those places except you know it before hand.Anyways, there I was at the CTMA Centre. There are a few Blythe official stores and some little toy stores which you can find almost everything. Some even carries Kozy, Goldie and custom Blythe from @nai San. The only one that I didn't see was Baby's Breath.
It is also the home of many famous fashion makers like SugarMag, Milky Way and BHC. There are also many small sellers here and there in the basement floors.
If you're planning to go there, be sure to go there late because most stores won't open until 4 pm.Here's a little snap shot of part of my doll shopping. And yes, little Miss Ice Rune is a new member of my Blythe family. Her name is Selena. She is sooo gorgeous, especially in person. The snowy outfits that she came with is needless to say, simply too adorable.

Happy Thursday!

To a Perfect Date
Even though there are few more weeks to Valentine's Day, the romantic atmosphere is floating merrily inside the little mushroom quarter. Picking fabrics, trying out dresses, everything has to at least have some Valentine shade in it. Would this little dress fit for a lovely date? Hmm... we still have some time to decide. =)
By the way, there's a wonderful article, plus lots of photos, on BlytheCon 2009 in the current issue of Haute Doll Magazine. Don't miss it! =)

City that never sleeps III
The crawl game machine in Hongkong seemed to be more difficult than the ones in Japan. If not, I'd probably had go for this adorable ghostly Gloomy Bear.
There were a lot of Japanese craft kits like this key chain kit in toy stores and department stores. I've seen similar ones on Etsy.
I wish that Blythe would be as easy to be found as Barbie.

Happy New Year from Puchi
Greetings from Puchi!
She has been talking a lot, even staff from the hotel told us that she tried to talk to them when they walked by. It is interesting and sometimes hilarious when she talks. She doesn't speak English of course but she makes all those sigh, excited, disappointed sound like we do.
This little corn was one of her birthday presents. It has been her favourite toy since then.

City that never sleeps II
Besides shopping, Hongkong is world famous for food and I wouldn't miss a chance to sample everything. From traditional preserved 'veggie' braised pork to international cusine, they were all delightful and prepared to perfection.Japanese teriyaki chicken mayo thin crust pizza at Watami
French Fries menu at Ireland's Potato
Chocolate shaved ice with banana and marshmallow
As my little travel tradition, I like stop by at least one Mcdonald's to explore the local specials. The chocolate pie was so-so. But the Double Filet-O-Fish was so awesome as you can probably imagine how good it is to double the filet! =)
Happy Tuesday!

City that never sleeps I
Happy New Year and welcome to Hongkong! It has changed quite a bit in the past years, the city is filled with many more new high-rise and many many more people. The extended subway system has made travel in town much easier. You can easily spend a day by simply wander around on any busy street, there are so many interesting things to see and so many good foods. Only if I have more time and more space in my stomach. =)
